Currently the bookkeeping industry recognizes no standard credential or training.

Working bookkeepers have few places to turn for on-the-job help. Most small business owners know little about bookkeeping and are not a good resource. Bookkeeping questions either go unanswered or are fielded by the company CPA. Bookkeeper/CPA consultations are not encouraged because they are cost prohibitive.

To succeed in the job market bookkeepers need on-going training and support. No course can cover the gamut of industry-specific bookkeeping tasks that bookkeepers face. It doesn't matter how many courses a bookkeeper takes. Inevitably, she will encounter tasks and processes she does not know how to approach and she will need a reliable resource.
